The Bottle Bag

Waxed cotton with etched leather logo.

The look is rustic. Rugged. It means business. Waxed cotton is hard-wearing and stands up to some heavy treatment. The etched leather logo featuring Jack Riley, the original man from Snowy River, gives it a fair dinkum Aussie flavour. And the strap makes it a cinch to carry.  And inside, the padded insulation wraps around your wine bottles as a big hug from mum.

Wine bag vitals

270 mm high. 240 mm wide. Perfect for two 750 ml bottles of your favourite tipple. Thermally insulated padding and a divider finished with an external stud fastener keep your bottles safe from bumps and knocks. And if your wine carry bag is empty, just fold it away for storage.

Shiraz Roussanne 2016

Box Grove Winery Tabilk, Victoria. Winemaker Sarah Gough

Generations ago, winemakers discovered that including a small portion of white grapes in a red ferment deepened the colour and added complexity to the nose. The shiraz and roussanne grapes in this wine were grown side by side, harvested and fermented together, then aged in a mixture of old and new French barriques before bottling.

With all my wines, I tread as lightly as I can in the vineyard and winery, letting the flavours of Tabilk’ terrior’ shine through in the fruit. The splash of roussanne adds a little perfume to the nose and silkiness to the palate, making it the perfect partner to a range of pork, veal, lamb and beef dishes, cooked with love and shared with friends. It is also vegan friendly.

JAMES HALLIDAY…95 POINTS (2020)

‘A gentle whiff of reduction soon blows off to reveal iodine and floral scents introducing blue fruits, smoked meats and a saline smokiness, all held in form by well-applied oak corsets. Better though are the finely ground tannins, coffee bean and choc-clad, pulling it all long and refined. ‘

Prosecco 2020

Box Grove Winery Tabilk, Victoria. Winemaker Sarah Gough

Prosecco is both the name of the grape variety and the fresh, aromatic sparkling wine it creates—a wine to be opened spontaneously and enjoyed young. Its nose and flavour burst with fresh apple and pear, finishing with an exuberant hint of lemon. Gentle bubbles and low alcohol make it perfect for any time of day—a relaxed brunch, a light lunch or a pre-dinner aperitif, perhaps served with a dash of Aperol, mineral water and a twist of orange for a stylish spritzer—or simply shared with friends for no particular reason at all.

JAMES HALLIDAY…94 POINTS (2020)

SARAH SAYS: ‘Prosecco is one of the first grapes we pick and the first wine we bottle each year. Drink it on its own or with a dash of Aperol and soda—either way; it’s just so good.’

Don’t let this thoroughbred get away.
